Islam and Science

Oct 04, 2022

Muslims in Denmark increasinly experience categorization of religion and science. But what does the Quran say about science? Are Islamand science compatible? And can sicence be used as an argument for Islam?

Starting from everything from the human body to the universe, we went on a journey together that illuminated and strengthen our knowledge within this subject. With us we had the pleasure of welcoming our guest speakers: Imam Abdul Wahid Pedersen & Doctor with Ph.D. in skin care, Hafsa Ismail.

With their help, we uncovered the blessings that we are surrounded by and got closer to how the Quran describes them.

Ramadan and your Health

Apr 02, 2022

DMC Youth’s event “Ramadan and your health” brought not only the spiritual elements of the holy month, but it also highlighted the scientifically proven health related advantages in this holy month. There was a guidance for how you can live a healthy life during the month of Ramadan.

Our respected guests for this event were first and foremost Ustadh Irfan Gilani. He spoke up about how we can motivate ourselves and each other in order to get the most out of Ramadan and be able to maximize the worship of Allah swt and reach the level of Taqwa!

Especially for the students, it can be challenging to structure their time – there were many tips for that also!

To represent the health perspectives, we welcomed our second guest, Hafsa Ismail. She is a doctor and recently did her PhD. Hafsa talked about how we can put together our diet and strive to have a healthy and beneficial diet throughout the month.

In recent period, we as a society have developed ground-breaking technology and medicine. It has undoubtedly created better living conditions for the population. However, we are seeing an increase in the number of people with poor mental health and wellbeing. According to the statistics, 1/6 Danes are affected, the majority of whom are younger people.

But what does Islam say about mental health? And how can we use our religion to prevent mental disorders?

Based on modern psychology, we got to answer these questions from an Islamic perspective at this event.

Two honorable guest speakers were present at the event, namely Aysha Farooq who is a doctor and she talked about mental health from a practical perspective. The second speaker was Abidah Ashraf who is an forensic psychiatrist and psychotherapist and she focused on how the knowledge about mental health is connected to the Islamic perspective on mental disorders.
